The Founder of Zion Industries – Heat Treating in Cleveland Ohio

Bob Puls Heat Treating in Cleveland OhioI was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1938, and have lived in the Cleveland area all my life. My wife, Dorothy and I were married in 1962. We have four adult children (3 daughters, 1 son). Our son and one son-in-law are involved in our business.

At an early age I received Christ as my Savior, but had not made him Lord of my life until 1972. What a difference that has made for me.

Prior to starting Zion Industries, I was employed for 16 years in a screw machine company. During this time the Lord had placed in my heart the desire to start my own business. For years I struggled with that. Then late in 1976, while in much prayer about this, the Lord gave me a vision and showed me the need for an induction heat treating services in the Cleveland area. This plan was confirmed by friends and Scripture given to me.

So in 1977 I approached my boss and told him of my desire to start my own business, and that it would take me about six months to prepare for it. Two weeks later my boss came to me with news that today would be my last day. I was shocked, but understood his reasoning. I left with pencils and a phone directory and started Zion Industries a little earlier than I had planned.

I was sure that my sudden departure from a secure job was God’s timing. My wife was very supportive of me in my decision. This made the transition so much easier. The Lord also blessed both of us with confidence in where He was leading us. I named the company Zion Industries because that name reminds me of the dwelling place of the Lord. We have struggled for many years and continue to face challenges, but the Lord is faithful to deliver us each and every day.

Our quality employees at Zion Industries

Today Zion Industries employees about 70 people focusing on induction heat treating services. Our customers send us their parts to be hardened by our induction process. We perform this service and return the parts to them. As we move forward, our vision is to meet the outsourcing needs of the manufacturing industry through delivering unmatched customer service while enhancing value for all stakeholders.

God has sent many excellent employees to Zion Industries over the years. These people are helping me pursue our mission to bring glory to God in the pursuit of excellence. Now I find myself less involved in the day-to-day details of running the business. I spend more of my time promoting the Zion vision and developing the future leaders of our company. As I consider the growth of our company since 1977, I am truly humbled.

To God be the glory, great things He has done.
